Running a care home necessarily means that women's health are given priority.  Though not every care home has a maternity ward, some are designed especially for treating women suffering from gynecological disorders or diseases.  Often such places ought to provide testing for pregnancy and further care.

There are two types of testing to determine pregnancy - urine test and blood test.  Blood tests are conclusive about the status but urine tests are very reliable and useful as well.  Pregnancy tests work by giving an indication of a hormone called human chorionic gonadotropin, generally known as HCG, which is produced when a fertilized egg attaches itself to the uterus lining.  This hormone can only be found in pregnant women.

In addition, pregnancy strips are also quite inexpensive and can be easily purchased even from online shops like Care Shop.  These tests must not be taken too early and are 99 percent accurate.  They must be taken after missing a period for best results.  Maternity homes must provide these strips for free.  This is usually a process that must be efficiently done to enable the woman to decide what options she might have and make a decision based on these options.
