Why are CleanWorks refuse sacks and bin liners made from recycled material rather than compostable?
- Compostable plastic that meets the EN13432 accreditation is only suitable for industrial composting which requires a separate collection to general waste and all contents must be organic and suitable for composting.
- Compostable film does not break down any quicker than conventional plastic in landfills due to the absence of oxygen.
- Compostable plastic is a significantly higher cost than recycled plastic which would be unnecessary in the majority of applications
How else are we helping the environment?
Through continuous research and development of the blend of plastic material, we have reduced the thickness of our sack material and eliminated unnecessary plastic whilst maintaining the strength and durability required for the application. This is proven by the CHSA Drop Weight test process
